In 1981, Canada Post began a series of souvenir cards issued at international philatelic exhibitions. These non-intaglio cards featured enlargements of Canadian stamps and typically provided space for collectors to apply a show cancellation. Canada Post also attended smaller shows and issued postcard-sized cards for these. These shows usually featured first day of issue ceremonies for new stamps, so mono-color placeholder images were included on the cards where the actual stamps could be affixed and cancelled, if the collector chose. In cases where only cancelled examples could be found, those cards are shown here. The last Canada Post souvenir card was released in 1998. Many of the cards here have never before been cataloged, and it is likely that others exist that have not come to light. For this reason, the SCCS is assigning temporary, year-based numbers, allowing later insertion of any unlisted cards as they are discovered. Eventually permanent sequential numbers will be assigned.
